Lie to me
- There is a show on Fox that is called 'Lie to Me'. It is about some investigators who are experts in reading people. They can tell by the smallest twitch if someone is lying or not. Too many times, the Church is a place where people try to lie about how they truly feel, and the hardships they are going through.
- The church is supposed to be an open and welcoming place. It should be a place for trasnparency and help.
- We are called by Christ to love one another and to help each other out.
M&M Discussion
When you come here for BFC, Ignite, WNL, or worship, you are supposed to come as you are. Why do we feel like we have to act like someone we are not at church?
Do you ever want to go tell someone in the Movement, or in church about difficulties that you are facing in your life?
Can you name 10 people here at BGCC who you know you can confide in and get support from? People that you can tell anything to and know that they will pray for you and comfort you?
AS a Church (remember, not the building, but the people) we are called to look out for one another, and share openly our struggles and hardships. Do we do a good job in the Movement of creating that type of atmosphere?
What can we do better to allow you to know that you can say and admit anything?
Look around you, there are people here who care about you. They want to see you legitimately happy, not just putting on a face. We want to be here for you and help you with everything that is going on.

10/4 Ignite "Masquerade-Chameleon"
Devotion- Jared Graves
Intro
- Students made a mask as if they were getting ready for a Masquerade
- We like to fit in. We find a select number of individuals and call them friends. We adjust our lives, our thoughts, our likes and dislikes based on their views and preferences. Sometimes this isn’t a bad thing, but often, it is.
- We change our morals, our stances on right and wrong, and other things because we want to fit in and be cool.
- We run from mask to mask in order to fit in with a group of friends and clicks.
- 1 Peter 2:1-12. We are called out, a people not meant to be wishy-washy in our encounters with others. We are to be the example for others to follow, not to follow blindly.
- We can wear different clothes, we can hang out with different people, but who we are should not change. We should be the same person at all times, not letting others influence us.
M&M Discussion
Discuss the masks that we put on in order to fit in, to be cool, or to act like someone else.
